Founded in 1945, the Matchbox is a Chicago Legend, a small place with a big impression. The matchbox has been providing the people of Chicago with a place to enjoy their favorite drinks with their favorite people in the most intimate setting. After a change in ownership in 1995, The Matchbox reopened its doors, without straying from that charm that was adored by so many. Nearly 25 years later the matchbox once again exchanged hands prior to the covid-19 pandemic. The new owners had no intentions of changing what made the matchbox so special. After a few necessary repairs and some upkeep, we are happy to say The Matchbox is open again and looks like it has since its beginnings. We cant wait to see all our new neighbors, old regulars, and those nostalgia seekers.
